A lounge
experience in a Rap cum R&B song is seen in everyday music these days, but
as far as Indian Punjabi music scene is seen this one is different!.
From the start,
Ishq da uda-ada(2003), Dil(2004), Smile(2005), Ishq ho gaya(2006),
Chocolate(2008), The Next level(2009),
Sikh(2012), Back to basics(2012), Sikh, Vol. 2 – Single(2013) and
numerous other singles in Punjabi movies and bollywood soundtracks, finally he
dropped his track with well known rapper “Badshah”.
The song is a
lyrical collab between both Badshah and Diljit dosanjh.
The video for the
song has passed 2 million views till date on Youtube.com posted by
sonymusicindiaVEVO.

The song video
was premiered in Major city theaters in Punjab by Diljit Dosanjh
The track starts
with violinish sound first and then it grooves with piano, bass and keeps
grooving.
When I talk about
the track, first thing which comes in my mind is Hollywood!!, although the
video is shot in LA still Hollywood comes in my mind!!. The song refers to a
girl which is driving everybody around with her looks! Whenever you listen to
it, the states come in your mind, India not at all! After “The next level”
album Diljit came with R&B tracks like “Leke javan LA nu – Track name: Los
Angeles with Yo Yo Honey Singh” and this time Proper patola sounds like part 2
to it. Badshah does a great job! With his rap. Track has got much much
attention even at Southern and western parts of India like other Yo Yo’s or
Asian desi tracks. As obvious it is internationally famous now especially in
States, United kingdom.
Diljit takes the
Indian R&B to another level on this track and with print on his t-shirt “URBAN
PENDU”, luckily and finally he proved his point by printing this onto the tee.
Sound of the track feels really urban and pendu cum desi at same time with core
Punjabi language words like “patiala shahi”, “launda si main gedian”, “gundwaa
sharer tera” and of course “patola”. Urban references with “Hourglass”, “Nicki
minaj”, “Gucci”, “Swag”. Another point to be pointed! is the outstanding video
of the song directed by Gifty. Another R&B video but with great track,
great rap and of course a fantastic and different music, even different than
Deep money, Yo Yo Honey Singh tracks(Of course Putting Brown rang at another
level in my mind!). At first instance it sounds so urban like Brown Rang,
second its video to be shot in Los Angeles with a proper patola!.
The video starts
with a shot at desert and Diljit, then diljit with american flag around his neck,
which to me is pretty awesome. Also the director lets you see the director
chair which is looking pretty cool and gives a sleek look to the video. Diljit
gives his great "Lion of punjab" facial expression, don't worry i am
referring to the cool one, not the angry one sitting on the chair. Model enters
the frame with Black suit & "chunni" looks great. Multiple shots
at the model and diljit both, frame goes to Diljit in flaming red car (Don't
know the name so not including the name, My bad!). Diljit around the boat area
on the coast singing and grooving onto the track in his "Urban pendu"
tee. Multiple shots of Diljit and model again and to be mentioned is the way
Diljit performs on the song at this part reminds of "Jatt &
Juliet" both parts. Both return again on the desert bike. At 01.20 Diljit
out of his car with gold chain on his neck, this shot is perfect and for me
"pick of the video". Shot is awesome and heart of the video. Next
comes Badshah sitting in a dark room and different shots (One in a slightly
lighter room) continuing his rap. Noticing thing is that badshah looks the same
from Deep money's "Come to me" what holds the time is his rap lines,
which are completely different and suits with a R&B track. Rap continues
with Diljit, car and desert shots. Song continues now with repeated shots shown
before. Extremely beautiful shot is this when the model is appearing with
american flag in hands waving in the air, this catches the attention of the
viewer and onto this note, hats off to director gifty. Video ends with car
running down the road.
The track is
perfectly written and creates a mass appeal, even the people who can't
understand punjabi are listening to it and watching the video. USP is its great
lyrics and Badshah and Diljit's cool singing tones, does a justice to R&B
genre and becomes a breaking news for those punjabi singers who fear singing
lounge / R&B tracks. This track has become a foundation for those artists,
this can even run in Punjab folks!. Sounds amazing to me, what it sounds to
